The removal of moles, or in other words, mole removal, is the elimination of moles located on any part of the body by General Surgeons, Dermatologists, and Plastic Surgeons, who are considered experts in this field.

How is Mole Removal Performed?
The method applied in treatment varies depending on the expertise chosen. For instance, general surgery specialists use devices such as lasers, radiofrequency, and plasma, while dermatologists enable moles to decay and disappear using a method called cryotherapy, which involves the application of a liquid gas. Therefore, it is advisable to be informed about the physician you will receive services from and the mole removal method they apply.

What Methods are Applied in Mole Treatment?
Treatments performed with incisions of half a centimeter (0.5 cm) and above are considered as surgeries. Some physicians perform mole treatment as a surgical procedure, involving larger incisions, such as cutting around and below the mole, referred to as mole surgery.

In non-surgical mole removal methods, moles are treated without making any cuts, using methods such as laser, radiofrequency, plasma, and gas such as nitrogen.

Which is the Best Mole Removal Method?
Laser, radiofrequency, cautery, and plasma methods are recommended due to their short duration, absence of scars after mole removal, and economic aspects.

Laser Mole Removal
Laser mole removal is a minimally invasive method that utilizes laser technology. This method aims to reduce the color of moles or remove them from the surface of the skin by targeting moles on the skin surface. Laser mole removal is less invasive compared to traditional surgical interventions and generally offers a short recovery period.

Radiofrequency Mole Removal
It aims to treat moles or lesions on the skin using radiofrequency energy. This method allows the removal of moles by using high-frequency electromagnetic energy. The procedure is usually minimally invasive and offers a short recovery period.

Cryotherapy Mole Removal
Cryotherapy is a treatment method that aims to remove moles or other skin lesions by freezing them. This method involves freezing the mole using liquid nitrogen or another cooling substance. (2)

Surgical Mole Treatment
Surgical mole treatment usually involves surgical intervention for the removal of large, deep, or potentially cancerous moles. The procedure may vary depending on the size, location, and other characteristics of the mole.

Is Mole Removal Harmful?
The purpose of planning mole treatment is not only to prevent an unpleasant appearance but also to take precautions against the possibility of skin cancer in the future. Therefore, mole removal is not harmful. However, it should be performed by expert doctors, and if necessary, moles removed should be pathologically investigated for cancer risk.
